Marie Langer's Master Thesis delves into well-being applications to regulate the usage of short-form media applications like TikTok, known for their addictive properties and attention-grabbing dark patterns. Marie contributed a design space for digital well-being apps, the mobile application Promise, and an evaluation spanning several weeks which shows promising (no pun intended) results in reducing the usage of TikTok under self-set user constraints.
